Lemaire designs clothes he would like to wear himself, and the result is possibly the most universal barde-robe. The ideal wardrobe is the perennial theme of his collections, timeless yet precise garments for each one to mix according to the mood and moment to create a very personal uniform. He solves the equation of a garment that is completely wearable for a diverse range of individuals looking for pieces both quiet and singular.

He gained his experience alongside Yves Saint Laurent and Theirry Mugler where he completed his initial placements. He assisted Christian Lacroix from 1986 to 1990 at Jean Patou and Christian Lacroix. He won the Andam Prize, twice, and launched his own label in 1991.

In June of 2010, Lemaire was named artistic director of Hermes women ready to wear and presented his first collection for the brand in March. Pierre Alexis Dumas, artistic director of the house, says he is, "seduced by his perennial approach to fashion" and so are we!

Christophe Lemaire recently became Lemaire to honor his creative collaboration with designer Sarah-Linh Tran.
